tests which are adjusted to reflect the participants age. The winner of

BCSSA summer residential soccer camp welcomed every
year visitors from
over 40 different nations and provided a truly International
experience for all of the players who visited. All of BCSSA courses
utilize their original Soccer Theme Park coaching equipment, which
includes dribbling mannequins, free kick walls, mini arenas and passing
gates.
Children can attend for a minimum of 5 days (Sunday to
Friday) to any number of weeks. However, BCSSA would recommend that you stay
no longer than 2 weeks as this can prove tiring, you are welcome to stay
longer if you wish.

Option: English Classes as a Second
Language. BCSSA English Language Course is specially designed
to give BCSSA players a fantastic holiday and to help them enjoy and
confidently use English, using it all day with other students and with
native speakers in and around the campus.
Teaching approaches to modern languages has changed enormously in recent
years – it’s now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience !
BCSSA teachers will conduct the English lessons almost entirely in
English – which helps students to make progress from the very first
lesson and soon grow in the confidence to communicate in English in a
variety of social and sporting situations. The English Language lessons
wherever possible will be tailored towards football, allowing students
to study through a medium they thoroughly enjoy and in which they are
both confident and knowledgeable.
Unlike most English Language Schools, at Bobby Charlton’s students are
encouraged to speak English all day, inside and outside classes. In this
way, they not only practice their English, but also make many friends
from other countries. This method has proven to be highly effective and
boosts confidence.
An assessment test will be carried out on the first day to assess
which level is right for each students needs. There are five levels of
general language tuition. On enrolment, students take a test to find
which class is best for them. These are: Elementary, Pre-Intermediate,
Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced.
Classes are organized so that each student is with others who have a
similar standard of English. There are usually 12 students in each
group. All BCSSA teachers are experienced, qualified professionals,
chosen for their special abilities with younger learners. BCSSA use
interactive techniques such as role play, pair work, and group work in
order to maximize student participation. Students have the chance to do
a lot of speaking in class, building their confidence to use the
language in the throughout the day and evenings.
BCSSA English Language course consists of 20 lessons per week (15
hours).
For 2011, BCSSA is excited to be able to offer BCSSA language students
the chance to enjoy conversational workshops with selected pupils from
Parrs Wood High School to practice their oral communication skills. This
will enable students to have some social conversation with British
children of a similar age.
BCSSA conversational workshop is a unique opportunity for BCSSA language
students to improve their conversational fluency, pronunciation and to
experience the common everyday language that English people speak to
their friends. This will not only improve fluency and help students
sound more natural but will also help them to understand word stress,
intonation and connected speech. |

The soccer course will be comprehensive, covering all
elements of the game, from basic techniques through to strategy and
tactics. All participants will be expected to take an active role in
this element.
All participants will be given the opportunity to play in games against
local opposition.
As was pioneered by the Bobby Charlton Soccer School all participants
will take part in a number of Skills Challenges. These were initiated by
BCSSA and have been adopted by many other famous Soccer Schools. One
player from each of BCSSA courses will be selected to compete in BCSSA
World International Skills Final which will take place in the Autumn.
BCSSA do get many elite players visiting the school and BCSSA most
famous past pupil, who won BCSSA Skills Final was David Beckham for whom
BCSSA set up a trial with Manchester United.
On the first day, groups are established based on age and ability. Campers will have
on average between 5 to 6 hours of soccer per day.
(3 to 4 hours if taking English classes).
During the
weekend (for children staying more than one week), there are no practices
only rest time or excursions.
All training sessions are divided into
age brackets as follows:
Junior 8 - 11
The "golden age of learning".
This is a great age, when the player is open to learning. They
like new ideas, and usually work hard on task, to perform well. This is
the phase where it is imperative to make sure that the players learn to
become “football literate”
The Fundamental stage is when
the players learn the techniques which they will need
to become good players including: Passing, Finishing, Heading,
Dribbling, Ball Familiarization, Control, Running with the ball and Body
Management. These skills are so important, and should not be rushed.
BCSSA will ensure that these techniques are learnt properly by creative,
innovative coaching which will teach the player, how to do and how to
apply what they do, in small game scenario situations, always
fun and challenging, but always developmental.
Senior 12 -16
Having played quite a bit of football, BCSSA find that the 12
– 16’s need to understand that there still is a lot to learn about the
game which they love. Developmentally they should now all be
quite good technically, but this is also the stage where physically the
bodies of the players and the hormones of the players are changing
rapidly, so their football education has to take this change into
account if BCSSA is to get the best out of their stay with us.
The course will still work on the individual, working on
technique, now that they and the players around them are
getting bigger, faster, and stronger; technique needs to be better and
quicker also. But in this phase BCSSA will start to challenge
the players tactically. What is their role and responsibilities
when their team have the ball, what is their role and responsibility
BCSSA the opposition have the ball, and what do they have to do when the
ball is in transition. These three phases of play will be covered as
well as the scenario work, covering what happens in these situations in
different areas of the field. BCSSA will tend to do this through pairs
work, into units, before moving to 8 v 8. Finally, BCSSA
youngsters relish the chance to test out their new found
knowledge against a local side that will come in to play the 11 v 11
game against BCSSA squad.
Youth
16 – 18
These young adults attend the course ready to work hard.
They attend the course because they still want to improve. With this
positive mind set BCSSA is able to work with them intensively.
Their course joins up all previous learning’s, technically
and tactically, they will have the foundations to move forward
and begin to really analyse the work that they do. BCSSA course will
provide them with information and skills that will prepare them to
move into the adult game. BCSSA will get them playing better,
harder and smarter. This course will spend time working players
Physically and Mentally, on and off the field of play.
GOALKEEPING
The goalkeeper is a specialist position on the field and
therefore requires dedicated coaching. Goalkeepers need to
develop unique skills to become confident leaders in and around the goal
area. BCSSA has designed BCSSA programme to provide coaching in all
aspects of the position to suit all goalkeeping requirements, focusing
on optimising the player’s performance in goal.
Typical sessions include: angle and positioning,
handling, diving, dealing with crosses, footwork, shot stopping, one vs
one, kicking and ball distribution. BCSSA aim to help the goalkeeper
achieve a level of success, regardless of ability. During the week BCSSA
goalkeepers have the opportunity to try out their new found confidence
and skills when BCSSA host matches between local teams. |
