West Ham United Foundation International Soccer Academy Location & Details

  • Camp self check-in is on Sundays from 14:00 (2pm) to 18:30 (6:30pm) and Residential camp self check-out is on Saturdays mornings (8:30am – 9:30am) at University of the Arts at the Sketch House in North London.
  • Day Camp only is from Monday through Friday (daily lunch included) (option to take a Saturday excursion to London), check-in is at 10:00am and check-out is at 17:45 (5:45pm). Day Camp check-in will be on the Sunday before camp starts (check-in day only, see above times). Day Camp check-out will be on Friday (after soccer activities).
    Day Camp participants will need to be dropped off every morning and picked up every afternoon at the Bobby Moore Sports Hub, Parsloes Park, Terrace Walk, Dagenham RM9 5PU

Accommodations

Accommodations for campers will be in Single Rooms with private bathroom at the University of the Arts at the Sketch House in North London. Sketch House is a new modern development with a design theme inspired by London’s artist community. All our rooms are individual with an ensuite shower and toilet. The residence has social areas, a safe open courtyard and 24-hour security. Practices for 5 days per week will be at the Bobby Moore Sports Hub, Parsloes Park, Terrace Walk, Dagenham RM9 5PU.

University of the Arts – North London

University of the Arts at the Sketch House is a new development exclusively for University of the Arts London students and the design was inspired by London’s artist community. Based right in the heart of Finsbury Park, this is a perfect location for students wishing to be close to Central London in a lively community.

Sketch House is a 5 minute walk from Finsbury Park Underground and National Rail station. The station is on both the Piccadilly and Victoria underground lines and offers links to Moorgate, Kings Cross and Cambridge.

The hall is also within walking distance of a number of bakeries and cafes including the famous Park Theatre café bar.

Ratio educators / children: 1/15 on-site, 1/8 during excursions

Camp Details


PLEASE NOTE the following for the West Ham United Foundation International Soccer Academy:
Coed Training Sessions are available during the first two weeks with boys and girls training together (since girls are only allowed to attend the first two weeks but boys can attend any of the camp sessions including the first two weeks which are Coed Training Sessions) and there is a very limited number of girls at this camp.

Four Types of Sessions Available (Standard, Development, High Performance, and Goalkeeper):

Standard Field Player Sessions (beginners at soccer) – Coed Boys and Girls (first two weeks only) from 10 to 17 years old who are beginners at soccer:

The Standard program is designed for players who are beginners at soccer. By immersing players in a pro-club environment, it aims to help players develop and improve techniques in all areas including technical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game. In addition to the use of the latest video-analysis technology and training techniques, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the camp’s pro-experience seminars which are delivered by West Ham United Foundation’s staff and cover areas including scouting/player identification, nutrition and physical conditioning as well as other specialist areas.

Immerse yourself in a professional soccer environment with like-minded soccer enthusiasts and enhance your technical and match-play skills under the guidance of the West Ham United Foundation Coaching team. At the same time as participating in rewarding training sessions, it is an opportunity to showcase your skills through the game. Coaching sessions are aimed to develop the soccer skills of participants including agility, positioning, ball control, passing and moving, formations and tactics but also the ability to attack and defend.

Development Field Player Sessions (players do not have to belong to a soccer club) – Coed Boys and Girls (first two weeks only) from 10 to 17 years old:

The Development program is designed for players who are at a standard level and/or are aiming to go into the high performance level. By immersing players in a pro-club environment, it aims to help players develop and improve techniques in all areas including technical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game. In addition to the use of the latest video-analysis technology and training techniques, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the camp’s pro-experience seminars which are delivered by West Ham United Foundation’s staff and cover areas including scouting/player identification, nutrition and physical conditioning as well as other specialist areas.

Immerse yourself in a professional soccer environment with like-minded soccer enthusiasts and enhance your technical and match-play skills under the guidance of the West Ham United Foundation Coaching team. At the same time as participating in rewarding training sessions, it is an opportunity to showcase your skills through the game. High Performance Field Player Sessions (club level players only) – Coed Boys and Girls (first two weeks only) from 12 to 17 years old who belong to a Soccer Club:

The High Performance program is designed for players who belong to a Soccer Club and who are already playing soccer at a high level. The program aims to take participants to the next level through training methods and techniques developed for the professional teams. Training covers all areas of technical skills, tactical skills, physical conditioning and psychological techniques to provide a comprehensive and rewarding program. In addition to the use of the latest video analysis technology and training techniques, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the camp’s pro-experience seminars which are delivered by West Ham United Foundation’s staff and cover areas including scouting/player identification, nutrition and physical conditioning as well as other specialist areas.

Immerse yourself in a professional soccer environment with like-minded soccer enthusiasts and enhance your technical and match-play skills under the guidance of the West Ham United Foundation Coaching team. Players can pursue to reach their highest potential, focused on technical, tactical, team preparation and performance analysis, mental development and injury prevention. At the same time as participating in rewarding training sessions, it is an opportunity to showcase your skills and demonstrate your passion and commitment for soccer.

Goalkeeper Option – Coed Boys and Girls (first two weeks only) from 12 to 17 years old:

This camp also offers a Coed Goalkeeper training session option for Development and High Performance sessions for boys and girls from 12 – 17 years old whereby goalkeepers can receive specialized position training along with unique drills and goalkeeper coaching insight. Goalkeepers will have 5 hours per week of goalkeeper training in addition to 10 hours per week of soccer training.

GOALKEEPING:
Goalkeeping courses teach players those additional vital skills such a handling, footwork and distribution which can be overlooked when training as part of a team. goalkeeping courses are specialized, and the camp work in smaller groups to enhance development and therefore fitness levels should be of a high standard. Goalkeepers train independently to the football academy programme but come together during session enabling players to put techniques into practice.

ADVANCED GOALKEEPING:
Advanced goalkeeping courses work on the same basis as standard goalkeeping, but sessions are designed to meet the requirements of senior and advanced goalkeepers who require further technical detail incorporated into their training to aid progression and development. Advanced sessions are physically and technically challenging and we recommend that players be of a high standard of both fitness and ability. Goalkeepers who attend these sessions may have the opportunity to highly improve their skills. Advanced Goalkeeping courses available to boys and girls of an advanced level aged 12 – 17 years old.

ENGLISH COURSE PLUS GOALKEEPING
This programme is designed for boys and girls of all abilities aged 12 – 17 years old, to improve their goalkeeping skills. It consists of 10 hours of soccer training plus 5 hours goalkeeping training and 12 hours of English classes per week.

Residential Sessions:

Residential Sessions include the following:

  • 5 days per week of training at West Ham United Foundation Training Facility
  • 15 hours of soccer training per week

Please Note: Residential Camp self check-in is on Sundays afternoon and camp self check-out is on Saturday mornings (before 9:30am).

Day Camp Sessions:

There is a Day Camp Option which is available from Monday through Friday (daily lunch is included). (Option on Saturday to take a London excursion)

The Day Camp program will be the same as the program for residential participants from Monday through Friday.

Day Camp initial check-in will be on the Sunday before camp starts (check-in day only) at University of the Arts at the Sketch House in North London and end of camp check-out will be on Friday after the soccer activities.

English as a Second Language Classes (Option Only), British Council accredited:

The Soccer and English Course incorporates 12 hours of English as a second language classes per week along with 15 hours per week of soccer training for both the Development sessions and the High Performance sessions.

Language tuition uses a fun, participative approach to learning and emphasizes spoken language skills. The program is specifically designed for children with an interest in soccer and includes a range of role-plays, pair-work, and activities. Created exclusively by Choices International and recognized by British Council with excellence for the teaching of English, the program develops English skills within a soccer context. Students receive 12 hours of English lessons per week which are taught by qualified teachers in classes of a maximum size of 15 students. Students are tested on arrival and placed in classes with other students of approximately the same level.

Excursions:

Campers staying one week are scheduled to go on a half-day excursion to London Stadium, the home of West Ham United F.C. Residential campers staying two consecutive weeks will also go on two more additional excursions consisting of a full-day tour to the London area and a full-day excursion to Kingston.

Staff and Safety:

The well-being of all children on West Ham United Foundation International Soccer Academy sessions is of paramount importance, therefore parents are not allowed on campus during the sessions. West Ham United Foundation International Soccer Academy feels this will allow the children to settle into the residential lifestyle and maintain their safety and security. Safety and security is of primary importance and there is a dedicated team to care for the children on and off the field. All West Ham United Foundation International Soccer Academy staff are FA qualified, CRB checked, and hold certificates in Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children.
